History

The Wrexham & Ellesmere Railway Company was built jointly by the Wrexham, Mold & Connah's Quay Railway and the Cambrian Railways, and built as a branch line. It was opened on 2 November 1895 and was operated totally by the Cambrian Railways. It became part of the Great Western Railway following the 1921 Railway Act.
