Writ and inquisition post mortem, 3 March 1291/2, of Ralph le Roter who held in capite in the fee of Kyngeslay the fourth part of one Knights fee by Knights service, the town of Houston by homage and service and in the town of Chester in the water of Dee one stall with a free coat, also three houses in Chester; and the town of Thorneton with the advowson of the Church thereof and the land of Elton of Peter de Arderne by homage and service. The said Ranulph also held of Richard de Aston two bovates of land in Aston. The jurors also swear that Peter (aged 5 years) the son of the aforesaid Ranulph is his next heir.
