A draft or copy of the petition of William Herbert, esq., to James I that he laid out £2200 in the late voyage of Sir Walter Raleigh, and has now to stay in London by order to attend the Council's pleasure 'to his great charge and hindrance, having his wife and family in Wales,' but during the attendance he had discovered Sir Walter Raleigh's intention to escape out of the realm and had informed the King by Sir William St John, and that the ship 'Destiny' should be transferred on him, or other satisfaction.
