A manuscript containing transcripts by David Parry from the Red Book of Hergest, together with other poetry, the volume being compiled before it was given to Jesus College, Oxford in 1701. The contents of the volume are as follows: A Welsh Grammar copied from the Red Book of Hergest (col. 1117), with collations by Samuel Williams from Llanstephan MS 3, p. 472 (original foliation I-Vb, 1-7); a copy of the poetry on cols 1143-1356 of the Red Book of Hergest (original foliation 7-12b, original pagination 13-168, 169-265); followed by sixteen leaves at the end of the manuscript containing poems by Robin Ddu o Fôn, Tudur Aled, Rhys Nanmor and others, together with the pedigree of Sir Rhys ap Thomas.
Samuel Williams has copied a good many of the older material in a modernised orthography on the side left blank by the original copyist. There are also marginalia in the hand of Moses Williams. A note, probably in the hand of Samuel Williams, on p. 265 (original pagination) reads 'All the Poetry collated March 27 . 1722'.

The transcripts were written on two fly-leaves of Thomas Stanley: History of Philosophy, London, 1655, in the original binding with the words 'E Libris ... Salesbury e Coll: Jesu Oxon'. on the inside front cover. Three sons [William, John, and Gabriel] of Owen Salesbury of Rug matriculated at Jesus College between 1656 abd 1658.

A volume written almost entirely in the autograph of John Roberts ('Siôn Lleyn'; 1749-1817) containing poetry largely of his own composition, with some items by other poets. The volume is in two sections and there is a list of contents at the beginning covering pp. 1-145 in the first section. The wording on the title-page is 'Trysorfa yr Awen sef Casgliad o Ganiadau, Sion Lleyn, 1787,' but some of the items are of later date. The other poets represented are David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu o'r Eryri'), Robert Prich[ar]d (Robert Prichiard Sion,'Robin'r Aber'), T[h]om[a]s Edward[s] Nant, D. M. 1759'); 'The Most Noted Poems in Mr. Bulkeley of Brynddu's Collection [i.e., 'Llyfr Gwyn Mechell', now NLW MS 832]; and 'Achau Llewelyn ap Gruffudd y Twysog diwaethaf o'r Cymru', transcribed in 1725 ('... allan o Lyfr Scrifen hen ddihennydd ... Llyfr fy hendaid'). Preceding the texts are a list of contents ('Taflen o gynhwysiad y Llyfr') and a list of names of the poets represented in the volume ('Enwau'r Awdwyr a Sgrifenasant y Caniadau yn y Llyfr hwn'). There are notes and memoranda on the fly-leaves by Lewis Morris and John Morgan. Inside the lower cover is a bill-head of the Wynnstay Arms Hotel or Eagles Inn, Machynlleth. Mary Richards [presumably of Darowen], whose bookplate appears inside the upper cover of the volume, has subsequently added transcripts of 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Sion Tudur, Lewis Glynn Kothi, Tudu[r] Aled, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Gruffudd ap Jenkin ap Llywelyn Vychan, [William Llyn] pp. 352-51, Iolo Goch, Raff ab Robert, Henri Humphreys, and Dafydd ap Gwilim.

Fragments of manuscripts found with MS 540B, possibly once part of Peniarth MS 326 (see D. Huws, 'A Welsh manuscript of Bede's De natura rerum', Bulletin of the Board of Celtic Studies, XXVII, p. 492). They comprise a leaf from Gerard of Cremona's Latin translation of Aristotle, De Caelo et terra, XIII cent. (f. l); a leaf of the Middle English Dives and Pauper, XV cent. (see NLWJ, xxii, p. 347) (f. 2); a fragment of a petition in Chancery of [ ] of 'Kellilyfday' [Gellilyfdy] concerning a book borrowed in 1643 by Thomas Jones of Kirchynan [Flintshire] and not returned, the petitioner no doubt being John Jones, Gellilyfdy (f. 3); a flyleaf of a book with Latin tags, an englyn and the name Richard Mores, XVII cent. (f. 4); a bon mot of Dr John Wilkins, Bishop of Chester, XVIII cent. (f. 5); a theological treatise entitled Circa generaliores regulas moralis Christianae sententiae aliquot quibus passim se opponit Schola Theologica Louanensis, XVII cent. (ff. 6-11); and an inventory of the goods of Thomas Wilkins, papermaker, of the parish of West Drayton, Middlesex, 1729, including the stock of a paper-mill (f. 12).

A manuscript in the hand of Moses Williams containing 'Kelvyddyd kerdd Davod' (ff. 1-5a), being a copy of pp. 10-16 of Llanstephan MS 28, with a note stating that 'This imperfect Tract I transcribed out of a MS. writ by Guttyn Owain A.D. 1455 & communicated to me by D Foulkes of Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd.'; and an extract 'Out of Huw Machno's Book' (ff. 5b-12b) outlining the fifteen faults which may be committed when writing Welsh verse, with examples. The text cites a line from Wiliam Cynwal.
