A volume labelled 'Llyfr Cerddi William Morgan', being a collection largely of poetry compiled during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century by William Morgan (died 1728), Plassegwynio[n], Llanymawddwy, Merioneth. A mutilated early seventeenth century manuscript of poetry in strict metres in the hand of Thomas ap Edward (Edwardes). It contains 'cywyddau' by Roger Kyffine, David ap Gwilym, Owen ap Gwilim, Gwerfyl Mechain, y Doctor John Kent, Gruffyth ap Ieuan ap Lle'n Vychan, Ieuan Klywedog, John Fylip, Iolo Goch, H[u]w Dyfy, Moris ap Howel ap Tudur, William Kynwall, Ieuan Dyfi, Howell Kilan, Gvto or Glyn, Gruffyth Hiraethog, Ieuan ap Gruffyth Leia, Robin Ddv, David ap Edmwnd, D'd Nanmor, Sr Rys ap Hary, Tydvr Alet, and Ieuan Lla[var] and anonymous 'cywyddau'; and 'englynion' by sion Tud[u]r, [ ] Lwyd, Moris ap Ieuan ap D'd and Hugh ap Moris, and anonymous 'englynion'. A portion of the volume (ff. 30b-56b) and the marginal notes have been transcribed by Owen Jones ('Manoethwy', 1838-66) in Cwrtmawr MS 401, pp. 1-25.

An imperfect late seventeenth and early eighteenth century commonplace book of Howell Tanat (Tanatt, Tannat, Tannatt), Trewylan Isa, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Montgomeryshire. It contains poetry in free metres by Oliver Rogers, Humfrey Dauyd ap Ivan, William Philips, Rolant Voughan [sic], Howell Tanatt, Edward Rolant and Hugh Moris, and anonymous poems; English verses; accounts, 1685-1707 and undated (household, farm, payments to craftsmen, assessments of lewns in Llansantffraid and Llandysilio, etc.); short depositions touching a suit in the Court of Chancery relating to Robt. Kinaston [of Trewylan Ganol, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain] containing references to a plot and the keeping of a Jesuit priest; household and medical recipes; an incomplete dictionary of English phrases with their Latin equivalents; scriptural notes; a prayer; etc.

The collection was begun probably in 1788.

A collection of poetry, etc. largely in the hand of David Jones. Examples of the scribe's signatures in the manuscript are dated 1704 and 1708 and the volume may therefore be attributed approximately to this period. It comprises 'carolau', 'cerddi', 'Ymddiddanion' and a 'cywydd' by T. Ed[wards], Hugh Morris, Cad[wala]dr Roberts and Thomas Maurice, together with anonymous poems; a few medical recipes; a table, undated, of the phases of the moon; an account, undated, of monies received [in the Llansilin area]; and a presentment of Edward Jones and Roger Lewis, churchwardens of the parish of Llanarmon mynydd mawr, 1705.

A volume of poetry transcribed by Lewis Owen [Tyddyn y garreg, Dolgellau, Merioneth] during the last quarter of the seventeenth century. An incomplete list of contents appears in Cwrtmawr MS 317, p. 265 in the hand of Canon Robert Williams, Rhydycroesau, and a note on the fly-leaf of the present manuscript explains that Robert Williams obtained the volume from the library of Daniel Silvan Evans. The spine is lettered 'Llyfr Cywyddau'.

A volume originally intended as an account book (receipts and disbursements in respect of wine, tobacco, house expenses, etc.), January - February 1800, but subsequently used by Mary Richards to record transcripts of letters from Henry Griffith, perpetual curate of Llandrygarn and Bodwrog, to T[homas] Richard[s], Llanerful, 1860 (the death of the Reverend R[ichard] Richards), Richard M. It contains a list of contents and a complete transcript of Peniarth MS 152 ('cywyddau' and 'awdlau' by Gutto'r Glynn, etc.), completed at Rhydycroesau, 21 December 1870; a transcript from Brogyntyn MS 2, with an English translation, of a 'cywydd' by Tudur Penllyn transcribed 2 February 1871; two copies of a 'cywydd' by Sion Kain transcribed from Peniarth MS [116], 14 November 1876, with relevant marginal pedigrees, poetry in strict and free metres by Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'] from 'Cydymeth Ifiengtid; sef Cerddi Cowyddau, ag Englynion tra dewisol na buant yn Argraffedig yr rioed hyd eitha fy ngwibodheth, sef Gwaith amriw rai o brydyddion cymru wedi gasglu gan Dafydd Evans, Llanfihangel, 1785'; 'Cywyddau Cywilyddus o [ffug-]waith Gweyrful Mechain', a 'cywydd' by Tydur Penllyn and 'englynion' by Iorwerth Vynglwyd, from 'Llyfr Hir Llywarch Reynolds' (NLW MS 970) and Llanstephan MS 35; and an incomplete list of contents of Cwrtmawr MS 242.
