Biographical history
W. Bradwen Jones, (1892-1976), composer, was the grandson of John Jones of Anglesey (Eos Bradwen, (1831-1899)), also a composer, and was born William Arthur Jones at Caernarfon. He chose the name Bradwen for family history reasons and is usually known as W. Bradwen Jones or William Bradwen Jones. He served in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in Egypt and Palestine. He then became organist and choirmaster for St Seiriol Church, Holyhead, Anglesey, where he worked until 1941; he then became organist in the Methodist Calvinist Church Hyfrydle, Holyhead. He mainly composed songs for organ and piano. He worked for the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, and also competed successfully, winning over 25 prizes. He died in 1970.
