Note
Artist and draughtswoman Vera Bassett was born in Pontarddulais, Glamorgan. She discovered a talent for art whilst bedridden following an accident in her teens and, apart from a short period at Swansea College of Art, was self-taught. Her first exhibition took place at the Urdd Centre, Hendy, Carmarthenshire in 1943. From the mid-1950s onwards, she exhibited widely, including solo shows.
