History

Barry Constituency Liberal Association was formed in 1974, in Barry, Glamorgan; in 1983, boundary changes led to it being wound up, and replace by the Vale of Glamorgan Liberal Association, with branches in Barry, Sully and Wenvoe, from 1983 until 1988, fighting the 1983 and 1987 General Elections and the 1984 European election. In 1988, the Liberal Party and the SDP merged to form the Liberal Democrats. The Vale of Glamorgan SDP branch had been active from 1981, and had corresponded with the Lberal Association.
