Administrative history
The Ty Gwyn Charity Convalescent Home at Llwyngwril, Merionethshire, was founded in 1930. It was intended to benefit ill-nourished girls aged 5-14, especially those from South Wales, and accommodation and schooling was provided for some twenty children, who stayed for at least three months and often for six or more. The need for the home declined as living conditions improved, however, and Ty Gwyn was transferred to the Local Education Authorities of Merionethshire, Montgomeryshire and Denbighshire in 1961.
