Biographical history
Edward Humphrey Owen (1850-1904), of Tŷ Coch, Caernarvon, was a book-collector and local historian. His interests led him to accumulate a large library mainly relating to Welsh matters.
Archival history
Some of the manuscripts were formerly in the possession of Jonathan Jones, surveyor of taxes, Caernarvon. See also file level descriptions.

A collection of manuscripts from the library of Edward Humphrey Owen, including pedigrees, wills and transcripts relating to North Wales; a poor rate assessment book, 1788; seventeenth and nineteenth century surveys of Caernarvonshire; material on ancient British history; the libretto of a comic opera dated [c. 1790]; collections of Welsh poetry; eighteenth century interludes; an account book of Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836), 1815-1817; letters, 1887-1888, to Edward Humphrey Jones; an account of the National Eisteddfod held at Caernarfon, 1821; and other items.
