Biographical history

The Sunday school existed long before the chapel was built. The earliest school for which records survived in 1919 had been held in 1811, which also predated the establishment of the cause locally in about 1815. The 1851 religious census reports that the afternoon Sunday school was attended by 90 students. The school seems to have flourished well into the Second World War. The school appears to have declined subsequently, but still had an average attendance of 24 in 1958. The school ceased sometime after 1963.
