Biographical history
The Secretary serviced the University Council and committees established by, or answerable to it. He was also the chief financial officer of the University. The office could not be held at the same time by the Registrar. Nevertheless, the office was abolished following one of the recommendations of the University Commission in 1964 with most of its duties being transferred to the Registrar.
