History
The School Curriculum Development Committee held its first formal meeting in January 1984. It replaced the Schools Council and was established to promote education by supporting curriculum development by informing itself of curriculum development work being undertaken by other persons or bodies, by evaluating such work with reference to the needs of the education system, and to disseminate and promote this work. It was replaced by the new bodies established under the Education Reform Act, but some aspects of its work and major projects were taken over by the National Curriculum Council.
