History

Sir Henry Beyer Robertson (1862-1948) was the son of the railway engineer Henry Robertson, owner of the Pale estate in Llandderfel, Merionethshire. He was also heir to Llantysilio Hall, inherited from his godfather, Charles Frederick Beyer. He assisted his father in various business enterprises and was involved in many new developments at Brymbo steelworks. During the First World War he ensured maximum production of iron and steel for munitions. Pale was turned into a military hospital and a hydro-electric plant was established there in 1918. Henry Beyer Robertson was a director of several companies, including the Great Western Railway Company, and a member of the River Dee Fisheries Board. In 1890 he was granted a knighthood.
