The rentals comprise the following estates:. (I) Llanmihangel estate in p's Betws Tir Iarll, Glyncorrwg, Llangynwyd, Llangeinwyr, Llandyfodwg, Coychurch, St Bride's Minor, Llangyfelach, Llandeilo Tal-y-bont, Llanrhidian, Llanmihangel-y-bont-faen, Colwinston, Ystrad-yfodwg, Llandow, Llanhari, Llanilid, Llanmaes, Llanblethian, Llantwit Major, Loughor, Newcastle, the town of Cowbridge, the manor of Pen-llin, Llan-gan, and Goston, and the manors of Fflimston, and Knelston. From R 27 (1786) onwards, Colwinston is leased with property in man. Pen-llin, Llan-gan, and Goston. (Ii) The Coity estate comprising the Steward's Collection and Recorder's collection and property in the manors of Coity Anglia (Court Lands, Coychurch Lower Hamlet, Coity Higher Hamlet, Coity Lower Hamlet), Coity Wallia (Pencoed, Trebelly, Rhwngddwynant, Hendir, St Bride's Minor), Cwrt Colman, Newcastle, Cefncribwr, and Ogmore. (Iii) The Dunraven estate in p's St Bride's Major, Wick, Coychurch, Llanblethian and the town of Cowbridge, from R 19 (1778) onwards. (Iv) The Clearwell estate, Gloucestershire, R 78-110 (1837-1869). R 111 (1870) contains Clearwell estate arrears. (V) Mines and minerals from R 80 (1839) onwards. From R 55 (1812) onwards, the order in which the p's, manors etc., appear in the rentals is changed, with the town of Bridgend, and p's Loughor and Llangennith specified. The re-arranged order is: man. Fflimston, p's Llanmaes, Llanmihangel-y-bont-faen, Llantwit Major, Llandow, Llanblethian, the town of Cowbridge, man. Pen-llin, Llan-gan, and Goston, Pen-llin Tithes/Rectory, p's Llanhari, Llanilid, Ystradyfodwg, Glyncorrwg, Llangynwyd, Llandyfodwg, Llangeinwyr, Betws Tir Iarll, Coychurch, St Bride's Minor, the town of Bridgend, the manors of Coity Anglia, Coity Walia, Newcastle, Cwrt Colman, Cefncribwr, the Dunraven Estate, man. Knelston, p's Llangennith, Llanrhidian, Loughor, Llangyfelach, and Llandeilo Tal-y-bont. From R 149 (1908) onwards man. Fflimston, p's Llanmaes, Llanmihangel-y-bont-faen, Llantwit Major, Llandow, man. Pen-llin, Llan-gan, and Goston, Pen-llin Tithes/Rectory, p's Llanhari, Llangennith, Llangyfelach, and Llandeilo Tal-y-bont are omitted. R 155 (1914) omits Llanblethian and Cowbridge; R 168 (1927) adds p. St Brides Major and ht Southerndown, and omits the Dunraven estate; R 170 (1929) omits man. Knelston; R 176 (1935) omits p's Llanilid, Glyncorrwg, and Betws Tir Iarll. Omissions occur in the following rentals because of missing folios: R 22 (1781) Betws Tir Iarll; R 28x (1787) most of the Llanmihangel estate; rental begins with man. Pen-llin, Llan-gan, and Goston; R 30x (1789) all the Llanmihangel estate and most of the Coity estate; rental begins with Hendir; disbursements are also missing; R 35x (1794) most of the Llanmihangel estate and part of the Dunraven estate; rental begins with man. Pen-llin and continues until the middle of Cowbridge; R 37x (1796) the Dunraven estate; R 45x (1804) Llangeinwyr, Llandyfodwg, and Coychurch; R 46x (1805) Betws Tir Iarll, Glyncorrwg, Llangynwyd, Llangeinwyr, and Llandyfodwg; R 47x (1806) the disbursements; R 50x (1809) all but the Llanmihangel estate; R 52 (1810) man. Pen-llin, Llan-gan and Goston, man. Ogmore, and the chief rents; R 57 (1814) the beginning of Llantwit Major. In R 1-54 (1758-1812) the column for chief rents has only occasional entries. From R 55 (1812) onwards the total chief rents, herriots and fines collected are given. All the rentals contain disbursements except where a rental is defective (eg. R 30x (1789), R 47x (1806). R 30 (1789) and R 31x (1790) contain election expenses of Thomas Wyndham. From R 55 (1812) onwards, taxes including property and land tax are given. R 55 (1812) contains accounts of estates sold in Llanblethian and Cowbridge, and R 56 (1813) contains receipts of estates sold in Llanblethian, Llangan, Coychurch, Coity, and Newcastle. Lease rents on the Llanmihangel, Coity and Dunraven estates were due annually on Lady Day, and on the Clearwell estate on 2 Feb. (Candlemas). Chief rents are collected at Michaelmas. An x following the number of a rental (eg., R 6x) indicates a duplicate copy. The rentals for the years 1890-1907 are not found. Numbers R 131-148, assigned to the missing rentals in case they should come to light in the future, are not listed. The draft rental for 1890 is available at RA 62.
