The file comprises notes about Augustus John and his family, 1957-[1971], from the recollections of those who knew him, including Ethel Hatch, Fiore de Henriques, Joseph Hone, Richard Hughes, notes by the biographer H. Montgomery Hyde on him, Allan Gwynne-Jones, David Jones, Mary Keene, Sir Gerald Kelly, Anita King, Dame Laura Knight, [Seymour Leslie], Compton Mackenzie, the Macnamara sisters, Lady Melchett, and Lucy [Norton] including her impressions of The Eiffel Tower [Restaurant, London]. Also included is an incomplete transcript of a BBC interview with [Ursula Nettleship], [1968x1971], and Roderic Owen's memories of Mavis Wheeler and quotations from his book on her Beautiful and beloved: the life of Mavis de Vere Cole (London, 1974).
