Scope and content
Uniformly bound, outsize volumes, containing dates of grants of leases, terms of leases, names of lessees and of lives of lease, annual rent, amount of fines and heriots, descriptions of the premises, and details of subsequent licences granted to assign or to sub-let which were endorsed on the leases. Four copies of the register for 1792-1895 were made. One copy was made for the Badminton estate office, one for the Monmouth estate office at Troy House, one for the estate's London attorneys and one for the Commissioners of the Admiralty at Greenwich House. For 1895-1903 there are three copies: the Admiralty Commissioners' copy has either not survived or none was made for them in the first place. All the volumes are indexed by assignees and lesees, and all include details about the surrenders of leases and about the sales and purchasors of premises.
