Scope and content
Records of the manor of Cyfeiliog in Montgomeryshire, which was previously held by the Pughe family of Mathafarn before its acquisition by Gogerddan, through the marriage of Maria Charlotta Pughe and Thomas Pryse. It was sold to Wynnstay in 1752 (deed of sale dated 1754) but the Pryse family retained some interest in the form of shooting rights. The records [c. 1674]-1920, comprise an original bundle of ‘old papers’ which include a copy of the original grant to the Abbey of Ystrad Marchell in 1201 and leases of lead mines, 1712-1715; chief rentals and accounts, 1752-1754, [pre-1855]; and papers relating to shooting rights and fences, 1865-1879.
