Scope and content

The box consists of i) two ring binder folders containing biographical notes on Puritans; and ii) a lever arch folder and a file containing notes, correspondence and copies of articles on Richard Baxter, including a copy of William Ross Shealy’s PhD thesis, entitled 'The power of the present: the pastoral perspective of Richard Baxter, Puritan Divine: 1615-1691' (Drew University, 1966). It appears that these papers on Richard Baxter were mainly created and accumulated between 2003-2005 (although the file consists of earlier drafts of works by Eifion Evans on Baxter), in preparation for a lecture entitled 'Richard Baxter’s influence in Wales', delivered as the 2004 Dr Williams Memorial Lecture, and subsequently published in 2005 in The National Library of Wales Journal (Winter 2003 (sic)).
