Note
Following publication in the South Wales Guardian in Nov 2014 the couple were identified as Ruth and Thomas Davies. The couple married in Llandeilo Fawr Church in 1919 and lived afterwards in Neuadd Road, Gwaun cae Gurwen. Thomas was a carpenter known locally as Tom Sar. Sadly, despite surviving the war he died relatively young due to health issues – whether these were in away linked to the war remains unknown.
