Biographical history
Philip H. Lawson (1887-1966) of Chester, began researching the history of the Anwyl family in c. 1905. Following his death in 1966, the work was continued by his research partner, Dr Thomas Anwyl-Davies (1891-1971), of London.
Archival history
The research papers were held by Judge Marcus Anwyl-Davies, son of Dr Thomas Anwyl-Davies, then donated to the Rev. John Hugh Anwyl, California, husband of Mrs Margery M. Anwyl.

Research papers concerning the Anwyl and related families, [c. 1905]-1991, including: correspondence, 1941-1991; pedigrees, genealogical notes and extracts, 1945-1988, concerning branches of the family in Merionethshire, Montgomeryshire, Caernarvonshire, Flintshire, and Glamorgan; papers concerning the Anwyl families of London; Darlington, Durham; Abingdon, Oxfordshire; and Liverpool, Lancashire; USA; Canada; and New Zealand; and photographs of the Anwyl family, 1960-[c.1974].
