Scope and content

A Petition from Sir William Morgan and Thomas Morgan, esq., to the King protesting against an unjust partition of lands in co. Glam. made by the sheriff and jurors as a result of a former petition of Wm Morgan, esq., Wm Thomas, and Arnold Thomas. Justices of the Great Sessions, however, could not agree, so judgement was not given and the legal issues were referred to the Chief Justice and the Judges of the Common Pleas. Petitioners request that the justices of Glamorgan should certify the justices of the Common Pleas re the injustice of the partition and of their stay of judgement. Subscription dated 2 March 1629-30 to effect that "His Majestie .... leaveth further proceedinge to the due course of Lawe and Justice".
