Bundle with original wrapper labelled ‘Peterwell papers sorted – not likely to be wanted but may be referr’d to if anything requir’d’. It contains mainly letters to John Lewes of Carmarthen, and copies of his replies, 1779-1781, concerning the purchase by Edward Loveden Loveden and the Cardigan Borough election of 1780. Correspondents include John Bowen of Troed-yr-aur, under-sheriff, Edward Loveden Loveden, Thomas Bowen, John Adams, Barrett Jordan, Thomas Graham of Lincolns Inn, David Edward Lewes of Dolehaydd, John Campbell of Stackpole Court, Mr Lloyd of Cwmgloyne, James Bowen, mayor of Cardigan, Watkin Lewes, John Philipps of Llandeilo, Edward Philipps of Lampeter, William Lewes, C. Mellis of Manchester Square, and Richard Philipps at Mabws. The file also includes a list of Peterwell properties to be sold in Carmarthenshire and Cardiganshire; instructions for the valuation and conveyance; particulars of the crown leases, 1779; and accounts.
