These deeds were probably acquired during the London legal career of Isaac Lloyd Williams (fl. 1790-1848). They include deeds relating to three generations of another legal family: Peniston Lamb (fl. 1708-December 1735), his cousin Matthew Lamb (1705-1768), Baron Melbourne, and Matthew's son Peniston Lamb, Lord Melbourne (1745-1828). The Lambs had an interest in chambers in 7 and 8 Series Court (now New Square), Lincoln's Inn. In 1815 Peniston Lamb, Lord Melbourne, conveyed the chambers to Cornelius Pitt, and Pitt in turn conveyed the chambers to Isaac Lloyd Williams in 1818 (see nos 97-8). This probably explains how deeds from the two separate practices came together, although one might perhaps have expected a deed or two from Cornelius Pitt's short occupancy of the chambers.
