History

The National Curriculum Council was established in August 1988 as a consequence of the Education Reform Act. It had four principal areas of work: to conduct consultation on the National Curriculum; to provide advice to teachers and other interested parties on the implementation of the National Curriculum; to advise and assist the Secretary of State on curriculum research and development, and to establish links with a variety of organisations and to disseminate information relevant to the curriculum.
