M. Williams, land surveyor, 'Mesurwr cyffredinol neu gyffarwyddyd i grefftwyr ... ail argraffiad. Aberhonddu, 1785. The volume bears the names of James James, 1833-1844, and of David James, 1835-1840. Nine blank leaves (watermark 1803), added at the beginning of the volume in the present binding, and eleven at the end, contain MS additions to the tables, and numerous measurements, estimates and costs of carpenter's and stonemason's work in the Teifiside area, e.g. the dimensions of the close stool of Penteinon; the mason's bill at the smith's house at Hirwen Bridge; measurements and costs of repairs to Dincwd House [St Dogmaels], 1835; the measurements of a pew and balustrade at Blaenporth Church: inside and roof measurements of Blaenannerch Chapel, erected 1839; measurements of sawing at Blaenyfed and Noyadd; the measurements of chimney pieces at Blaenbedw; measurements and estimate of Ffynoncripil dwelling-house slating; measurements and estimate of Trecwn slating; the mason's bill for Popit House [St Dogmaels]; and a statement of account due from W. H. Webley Parry [of Noyadd Trefawr] to Thomas Richards for the latter's carpentery at the former's houses in St Dogmells, 1830. The following entries of family interest recorded in the vol. may be quoted:. Sarah, daughter of David James, dec. Sept. 1 1808, between 11 and 12 forenoon of the Small Pox. David, the eldest child of Dd James and the only son of him, dec. Nov. [ afterwards erased] 14 1816, through the deficiency of the necessaries of nature and the inclemency of the weather.
