Note

The London & North Western Railway was a British railway company between 1846 and 1922. It was created by the merger of the Grand Junction Railway, the London & Birmingham Railway and the Manchester & Birmingham Railway. In the late 19th century the L&NWR was the largest joint stock company in the world. The L&NWR became a constituent of the London, Midland & Scottish Railway during the 1923 grouping of British railways, and, in 1948, the London Midland Region of British Railways.
