Scope and content
Title deeds of houses and lands in the parish of Llangynfelyn, 1541-1760. Boundary clauses mention the bog and the river Clettwr. The earliest deeds record transactions of the Jankyn family, namely a gift by Jankyn ap Ieuan ap David, of Y Berth and Llain Bengam to Gr' ap Ho'll ap Ieuan Here, 1541; and purchases by Morgan Ll'n ap Jankyn of Y Garrack Selfock and other lands, [1547x1553]. Further deeds refer to Tir y Vron Goch, the water mill, Tythin Ynys Tyder in Llannerch Goch sold by John ap Rees ap John and Mawld his wife to Griffyth ap Ievan ap Jenkin, and Tythin Gwern Rees Taylour, 1574-1617; parties include Richard Phillipps of Aberystwyth and others. Properties acquired by the Pryse family include Lle Tuy D'd, Klwt y Maen Gwnion, Llyest y Wayn Bwll, a moiety of Y Neyadd and Tythen Y Neyadd, and Crosse Howse, purchased by John Pryse of Gogerddan, 1581; Tythin Allt Ieuan ap Eignion, purchased from Howell ap Jenkin ap Ieuan ap Dio and Henry ap Howell ap Jenkin by [Sir] Richard Pryse, 1596; Lle Llyest Ieuan ap Howell Benlloid in Blaen Clettwr and Melyn y Coyed, acquired by Sir Richard Pryse, 1605-1607; and Tuthin y Velin and Tuthin Ergid y Bwa, purchased by Dame Gwen Pryse, 1627. Later deeds comprise a bond to Richard John of Ynys Fochno, 1720; exemplification of a fine whereby Thomas Pryse gained a moiety of the mill and other, unspecified properties, 1727; and a lease by Richard Morgan of Henllys, of Tyddin Tynyrhelig and Lletty’rfran, 1760.
