The ledger was found among the possessions of Ellis O. Cemlyn-Jones, grandson of Owen Owen, shortly after his death in 1997 and transferred by his widow to his cousin, J. A. H. Norman.

Scope and content
Ledger, [1881]-1898 (watermark 1879), of Owen Owen, recording various accounts (MS 23808iE). They include stocktaking balance sheets from the commencement of business on 2 May 1868 up to February 1896 (pp. 100-149), those for 1868 to 1881 (pp. 100-118) having been copied into the volume in or about August 1881.
Among the other accounts are the fixture account, 1881-1895 (pp. 1-2), capital accounts of Owen Owen, 1881-1896 (pp. 56-58), and Jabez D. Owen, 1882-1885 (p. 76), and a record of properties and securities, 1885-1898 (pp. 441-447). The volume includes an index (ff. i-xxiv). Papers, [1878]-[1898], including some balance sheets, found loose inside the volume have been filed separately (MS 23808iiE).
