Scope and content

The Lambs had an interest in chambers in 7 and 8 Serles Court (now New Square), Lincolns Inn. In 1815 Peniston Lamb, lord Melbourne, conveyed the chambers to Cornelius Pitt (no. 98), and Pitt in turn conveyed them to Isaac Lloyd Williams in 1818. In 1850 the chambers were conveyed by Matthew Davies Williams of Cwmcynfelyn, Cardiganshire, the eldest son of Isaac Lloyd Williams, to John Wood of Coventry Street, Haymarket, wine and spirit merchant. Deeds relating to the Serles Court chambers are held at the Lincolns Inn Library (Serles Court Books and D1e12/1-11). Photocopies of the admission to chambers of Matthew Lamb, Peniston Lamb and Cornelius Pitt, together with a draft list of deeds relating to New Square, are in NLW Facs 861.
