History

Shirley Jones is an artist, writer and printer who was born in the Rhondda Valley in 1934. She studied English literature at the University in Cardiff and taught for seven years before becoming an art student and undertook courses in printmaking in the early 1970s at Croydon College of Art. In 1977 she began producing her own books using hand made paper and from 1983 used the name Red Hen Press. Shirley Jones moved back to Wales in the early nineties and opened her studio in Llanhamlach, near Brecon.
