Biographical history

Jenny Porter volunteered at the North Wales Lesbian Line (Llinell Lesbiaid Gogledd Cymru), supportive service, for a number of years. She was the co-ordinator of the proposed Cymru Pride Wales Parade in 1999 and LGB Forum Coordinator in 2002. LGB became Stonewall Cymru on 1 April 2003. Jenny Porter was Community Liaison Officer at Stonewall Cymru in 2007 and part of the Inside-Out project team in 2006. She was awarded a certificate for ‘outstanding commitment to diversity’ by North Wales Criminal Justice Board in 2007 and 2008. In 2010 she was awarded with a Welsh Government Recognizing Achievement Award for Tackling Prejudice.

Papers of Jenny Porter as co-ordinator of Cymru Pride Wales (CPW), relating to The North Wales Lesbian Line; publicity material; minutes of meetings; early Stonewall documents; papers relating to the formation of the LGB Forum Cymru launched in 2001, including a letter from Sir Ian McKellen apologizing that he is unable to attend the first proposed Welsh Pride on 23 October 1999.
