After taking your leave I came to Hoogli with Jagat Seth. Our staff here were on leave celebrating the Dushera festival but we continued to work. I have received letters from Rajah Tilok Chand and Diwan Ramchand from Burdwan stating that they have sent the tenth instalment of one Lac and twelve thousand rupees from Burdwan on the 16th of As. Out of this amount the sum of one Lac rupees has been received at Bansbudhya today in the afternoon of Monday, 9 Safar San6. This sum is being sent from Bansbudhya to Calcutta to be deposited in the treasury. We are chasing the arrival of the rest twelve thousand rupees. This will be sent as soon as it arrives. Meanwhile, we have reminded Bansbudhya that there should not be any delay in the payment of this amount. On the 4th Safar the chief trader Khvajah Muhammad Vajid sent a letter to his gumashtah Babu Suda Sev. It was received by him on the 7th. It contained the information that Janab [the Nawab] intends to march on the 8th or 9th of this month from Murshidabad to Calcutta. As the letter was written by Khvajah in his own handwriting, and as I have myself examined it, I thought it necessary to send you this information. If you wish I can stay here and investigate it further. Earlier, I had twenty thousand rupees: I hope you have received this amount

We have heard that Dutch naval ships with an army on board are coming towards this area. We have repeatedly sent them orders not to bring their army here. We have also come to know that a number of their ships have reached the vicinity of Hoogly and it appears that they have bad designs. It is therefore necessary that you send your army to evict them and to protect our interests and those of the English

Ram and Jeram Chaudharies, sons of Kormal, were employed by me for generations. Ram Chaudhari took all the money which according to our accounts was due by deceiving the foot soldiers who were carrying this amount and fled. His brother Jeram is now in prison. The aforesaid first [Ram Chaudharies] went to Kundo Khosal near Calcutta and after stealing money and collecting some foot soldiers has now reached Mathras / Mihtras where he is creating trouble. He has imprisoned messengers and is molesting people. It is requested that he should be stopped and punished so that other servants do not dare to follow his example. I am sending my vakil Ram Mitr who will be able to furnish further details in person

The districts of Salimabad, Sundhargul, Lakhardiya, etc., are part of my state and the cultivation of these lands is in the name of Rajah Lakhi Narayan. Most of your employees who travel between Calcutta and Jahangirnagar pass though these lands and give all sorts of troubles to people living here. In the same way the employees of the Kothi Lakhi with the help of other people who come here on elephants for their business also disrupt and damage the work of the artisans and businessmen. It is therefore requested that you appoint two companies of guards to protect the two Kothis and the people of these areas
