The text of this letter, which refers to M. Pierre Renault, the French governor of Chandernagore, captured by Clive in 1757, does not match any of the contemporary translations in CR8/1 but, in view of its handwriting and content, appears to be that referred to in entry 123, received on 10 April from Khvajah Wajid

An enclosure, which bears the harkarah's signature on verso, requests: 'It has become known that the French army intent on battle has set out from the ports (banadir [?]) of Deccan [?], therefore writing if some of your army can help...'
