A cyclostyled copy of 'Alawon Gwerin Cymru, Detholiad yr Ysgol Wyliau Gymraeg' by Philip Thomas (NLW MS 13758D). This copy lacks the song 'O do, mi a glywais'.

Two notebooks containing an essay, [20 cent, first ¼], by Philip Thomas on Welsh folk tunes. Included is an account of the custom of hunting the wren (ff. 53-4 verso).
A number of leaves have been inserted at the end of the second volume (ff. 49-58).

A volume containing hymn-tunes and folk-tunes together with an index to the tunes, written in a mid-nineteenth century hand (ff. 73-209), bound together with a copy of William Owen, Prysgol, Y Perl Cerddorol... (Caernarfon, 1852) (ff. 7-72). A note in pencil on f. 1, probably in the hand of Philip Thomas, suggesting 'Shenkin Dounie, Harpist, Neath' to have been the scribe is probably an error for John Dounie [Downey], harpist, the Mera, Neath (see E. E. Williams, 'The queen of the Mera', Neath Antiquarian Society Transactions (1979), 6-7). Also included is a printed advertisement for John Ambrose Lloyd, Casgliad o Donau... (1843) (f. 210).

A notebook into which have been pasted pages of the printed programme of 'Cymanfa Alawon Gwerin', held at Tabor, Maesteg, 9 February 1927, under the auspices of Cymrodorion Maesteg, with additions in the hand of Philip Thomas.

A copy of Edward Jones, Musical and Poetical Relicks of the Welsh Bards ... (London, 1794), with a few annotations by John Dovaston. Among items tipped in are transcripts by Edward Jones of Welsh, English and Irish airs (ff. 1, 73, 106) and a letter from him to Dovaston, 16 January 1817, concerning Welsh folk-tunes and other national airs (ff. 74-75). The letter is in answer to Dovaston's letter of 25 December 1816, which is part of Cardiff MS 4.130.
