Lecture notes on Shakespeare, etc.,

A note-book containing lecture notes on Shakespeare and other Elizabethan and Jacobean dramatists and poets. The first page is inscribed 'English Notes. Book III. Professor Masson', and bears the name of James S. Wilson and the date 18 February 1895. The notes appear to be those of lectures delivered 18-26 February [18]95.

Llywarch Hên; Cynddelw; vocabularies

A manuscript in the hand of Ieuan Fardd containing translations of the songs of Llywarch Hên, with accompanying notes (pp. 5-19); notes on Welsh and Shropshire place-names, some taken from the work of Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt (pp. 19-36); 'Extracts apparently from the English Chronicle' (pp. 37-44); parallel quotations from Llywarch Hen and Shakespeare (pp. 45-46); a translation of Cynddelw's 'Song of Eva daughter of Madawc the son of Maredudd' (pp. 55-56); an index to the Red Book of Hergest (pp. 57-74); a Welsh-English vocabulary, dating from 1542 (pp. 75-128); and a list of Welsh words compared with allied forms in Latin, Gothic, etc. (pp. 129-133).

Shakespeare's Welsh connection,

Papers, 1993-2001, relating to Tom Lloyd-Roberts's article 'Bard of Lleweni? Shakespeare's Welsh connection', published in the New Welsh Review (No. 23), concerning the authorship of verses in Christ Church MSS 183 and 184. Included is a typescript and proofs, 1993, of the article by Tom Lloyd-Roberts, and a photocopy of a letter by him to the Editor published in issue no. 26; an amended typescript of an article by John Idris Jones, published in issue 25, in response to Tom Lloyd-Roberts's article; typescripts of additional articles by John Idris Jones, 'Shakespeare's 'A Lover's Complaint : the Lover Identified', 1995, and 'The Lancashire perspective : Shakespeare's life and work with reference to 'the missing years'; facts and speculations; a summary'. The file also contains related correspondence, a number of which are photocopies, 1994-2001, including letters from Tom Lloyd-Roberts (12), and John Idris Jones (3), and press cuttings, notes and press releases.
