The contents include notes in English and Welsh on palmistry; transcripts, largely incomplete, of Welsh poems in strict and free metres by ? Owen Jones, Griff. ap Dd. Fychan, ? Willi[am] ffylyp, Dd. Llwyd ?Lln. ap Owain, Robin Ddu o Fôn, David Lloyd ap Lln. ap Griffith, Thomas Price, Owen Gwynedd, Wiliam Llyn, Sowdwal, Siôn Keri, Siôn Tudur, Tomas Brydydd, Doctor Siôn Kent, Siôn ap Howel, Gruffudd Hiraethoc, Rys Kain, and Edw[a]rt Maelor; transcripts of two 'englynion', one in English and one in Latin; etc. The inscription 'Hwn o Lyfr Meyryg Dafydd, July 1821' (in the hand of Edward Williams) appears in the volume.

A composite volume containing transcripts of prose and verse items in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'). Monmouth, extracted mainly 'o Lyfrau Harri Siôn o Bont y Pwl a Llyfr ym Meddiant Rhys Thomas, Argraffydd o'r Bont Faen ym Morganwg', but only four 'englynion', presumably meant to be attributed to this poet, follow on p. 84. In a note on the aforementioned 'title-page' (p. 199) Edward Williams claims to have transcribed this collection in 1799 from a manuscript in the possession of Siams Thomas of Maerdy Newydd, co. Glamorgan. Preceding and following the actual text of the collection are transcripts of a prefatory letter dated 1685 (pp. 201-06) and of the concluding note already referred to (p. 390) both of which are attributed to the Glamorgan scribe and copyist Thomas ab Iefan of Tre Bryn as compiler of the manuscript from which Edward Williams was allegedly copying (see TLLM, t. 172; IM, tt. 291-4). Pp. 391-477 contain a transcript of a collection, in alphabetical order, of over three thousand Welsh proverbs attributed to Cattwg Ddoeth ('Llyma Ddiarhebion Cattwg Ddoeth . . . sef yw hwnn Ail Lyfr y Gwyddfardd Cyvarwydd'). This collection, according to the aforementioned note at the end of the preceding section (p. 390) attributed to Thomas ab Iefan, had been compiled by the said Thomas from various sources and formed a continuation of the previous section. Edward Williams's claim with regard to the Siams Thomas volume is probably intended to apply to the contents of pp. 391-477 as well. The contents of pp. 199-390 have been published in The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales . . ., vol. III (London, 1807), pp. 1-99.

The greater part of the volume was probably transcribed by the Evan William whose name, in his own hand, appears on pp. 62, 83 (1775), and 121. 'Evan Williams, Gardener', referred to in the margin of p. 63 as the owner of the volume in 1779, is possibly the same person.

An incomplete miscellany, in the form of three unbound volumes, of free- and strict-metre poetry (including illustrative extracts), compiled by David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri') under the title of 'Golwg a'r Parnassus, a Helicon, Sef, Casgliad neulltuol, neu Bigion Dewisol Allan o Waith Prif feirdd neu Brydyddion yr oesoedd, sef y Rhannau hyny o'u Gwaith na ymddangosodd yn argraphedig Hyd yn hyn ond mewn hen Sgrifeniadau, yn Englynion A chywyddau. yn Ddwy Rann; un yn Ddigrifol ar llall yn ddifrifol. O Gascliad, Dewi, ab Thomas, Waunfawr. A Sgrifenwyd yn y flwyddyn 1781'. The preface ('Rhagymadrodd at y Darllenydd') indicates both the period and partly the source of the volume: 'Y Darnau canlynol o Brydyddiaeth a Sgrifennwyd Gennyf yn fy Ieuenctyd, Pan ddechreuais Gyntaf Gael blas, ar farddoniaeth Reolaidd Ac yn ol fy nhŷb i, y Pryd hwnnw, maent yn Brif orchestwaith, Pigion, neu oreuon, Gwaith yr hen Feirdd ... Yr a adsgrifennais wrth ymdeithi[o] yn ddamweiniol, heibio'r lleoedd yr oeddynt iw gweled fel y Gwelwch yn Enwau'r Eglwysydd'. The poets represented include Rhichard Phylip; Maredudd ap Rhys; David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'); Hugh Hughes ('Y Bardd Coch o Fôn') (1766); Huw Morys; Siôn Cent; William Phylip; Elis Roberts; Dafydd ap Gwilym; Siôn Phylip; Bedo Brwynllys; Tudur Aled; Gruffudd Hiraethog; Siôn Brwynog; Siôn Tudur; Edward Morys; Owen Gruffydd; and Siôn Mawddwy. The titles include 'Englynion i Sir feirionydd'; 'Englynion Iw gosod ar fedd Huw Jones o Langwm ...'; and 'Englyn i Hugh Lloyd Cynfel'. Additions in other hands include some music scores of carol tunes and calligraphic exercises.

A small volume containing Welsh poetry in strict and free metre written in a mid- seventeenth century hand [not that of Wiliam Phylip the poet]; the date 1676 (p. 22) is probably later than the manuscript itself. The poets whose work is represented are Iolo Goch, Will: Phylip, Hunffrey [sic] d'd ap Euan 'y clochydd' / 'clochydd o lanbren mair', and Doctor Siôn Cemp [sic].

The volume is said (p. vi) to have been transcribed at Ty du, Llanberis, in July 1766, from a manuscript of William Phylip, Hendref fechan, Dyffryn Ardudwy (Cardiff MS 19, part II). There are annotations, variant forms and additions by the scribe (David Ellis), by P[eter Bailey] Williams, Llanrug (1763-1836) and O[wen] W[illiams] ('Owain Gwyrfai'), Waunfawr. The spine is lettered 'David Ellis MS'.

Prose and poetry copied in 1674-1679 by Edward Roberts, vicar of Capel Garmon, 1671-1685, whose translation, Llaw Llyfr yw ddarllen ir Cleifion, appeared in 1754. The contents include a transcript of Carwr y Cymru yn annog ei genedl anwyl ... i chwilio yr Scrythyrau ... (London, 1631) and other religious treatises, prayers, etc., a catechism, 'Achau'r Cwrw', and poems by the transcriber and others, including Rowland Vaughan and Wiliam Phylip. The hymn beginning 'O Arglwydd arnat i mae mhwys' was printed in Examen Quotidanium Ymholiad Beunyddiol (London, 1658).

A composite volume containing miscellaneous transcripts, extracts, notes, etc., in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'). Pp. 1-60 contain a copy of the medieval Welsh metrical treatise or bardic grammar which is usually attributed to Einion Offeiriad and/or Dafydd Ddu o Hiraddug. In the present version which, according to a note on p. 61, was transcribed [by Edward Williams] from manuscript texts then in the possession of Mr. [Thomas] Richards of Llangrallo [co. Glamorgan] and the Reverend Thomas Evans of Brechfa [co. Carmarthen], the work is, however, attributed to Edern Dafod Aur. For the probable source of the present text, subsequent transcripts made of it, its attribution (probably by Edward Williams) to Edern Dafod Aur, and its connection with the version published in John Williams ('Ab Ithel'): Dosparth Edeyrn Davod Aur . . . The statement in David Williams: Cofiant Cynddelw, p. 684, that the greater part of the volume is in the author's own hand is incorrect.
