An autograph letter, 7 February [16]93, from Humphrey Humphreys, bishop successively of Bangor and Hereford (1648-1712), to Peers Maudit, Windsor Herald; letters and genealogies sent to Bishop Humphreys, 1704-1707, by Peter Le Neve, Norroy King of Arms (1661-1729), and Thomas Humphreys, mainly concerning the pedigree of Sir William Humphreys, a sheriff of the City of London, with notes thereon and on Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt (1592?-1666), by Bishop Humphreys.

Letters to Sir William Maurice, 1587-1619, and Elen Eure 1624; Col. William and Mary Owen, 1632-1670; Sir John Owen, 1647-1660; Jane Owen, 1669-1718; Catherine Owen, 1679; Ellen Owen, 1679-[c. 1701]; Sir Robert Owen, 1681-1697; Lady Margaret Owen, [c. 1682]-1727; and Elizabeth and Thomas Longueville, 1724-1743. Recurrent topics include the public duties of Sir William Maurice, Sir John Owen and Sir Robert Owen; local and national official appointments; the aftermath of the Civil War; post-Restoration political events and religious unrest; debts owed by Sir Henry Johnes of Abermarlais to Sir William Maurice and his immediate descendants; litigation concerning the North Wales and Oswestry estates; and financial issues arising from the estates of Sir Robert Owen and his sister, Ellen. There are several letters by Humphrey Humphreys, Bishop of Bangor and of Hereford, and other correspondents to Sir Robert Owen about family settlements; and to Jane Owen, Ellen Owen and Lady Margaret Owen concerning the education of Sir Robert 's children after his death, personal debts and encumbrances on his estate, particularly the mortgage of Ystumcegid, 1698-1704.

An autograph letter, 9 June 1698, from Edward Lhuyd, Pembroke, to [Humphrey Humphreys], Bishop of Bangor, relating to Lhuyd's ongoing tour of South Wales, describing the difficulties faced in corresponding, his fossil collecting and his research into Welsh manuscripts (f. 1).
Also included is an engraved portrait of Lhuyd, 1796 (f. 2).

A volume containing a copy in a mid-seventeenth century hand of 'History of the Gwydir Family' by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, Caernarvonshire (ff. 8-73 verso). It is an early copy of a recension of the work represented by thirteen other copies (see below).
The text is here followed by pedigrees of and memoranda relating to the Wynn family of Gwydir and its collateral branches in several late seventeenth- or early eighteenth-century hands including that of Humphrey Humphreys, bishop of Bangor, afterwards of Hereford (ff. 75 verso-6, 79 verso-80); he has also added a marginal note on f. 63. Inserted later are a receipt, 1551, and a letter, 1599/1600, in the hand of Sir John Wynn (ff. 83a, 84a-b); and two notes, 1878 and [n.d.], relating to the volume, in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (ff. 86a, 87a).

A volume containing a copy, [late 17 cent. x early 18 cent.], of a sermon preached on Ephesians iv.11-12 by Humphrey Humphreys, dean of Bangor (later bishop of Bangor and of Hereford), at the consecration of William Lloyd as bishop of St Asaph in 1680.

Some ten booklets, containing sermons and drafts and fragments of sermons in English (ff. 1-18, 32-235, 252-283) and Welsh (ff. 19-31), all undated, now bound as one volume. Some are in the hand of Robert Wynne, MA. Also included is an imperfect printed copy of Humphrey, Lord Bishop of Bangor, A Sermon Preach'd before the House of Lords, at the Abbey-Church of St. Peter's Westminster, on Thursday, the 30th of January, 1695/6, Being the Martyrdom of K. Charles I (London: John Everingham, 1696, Wing H3721) (ff. 236-251).

A miscellaneous gathering of papers, some of which have been endorsed by Bishop Humphreys: (a) papers relating to Denbighshire, including extracts from the Survey of 1334 (ff. 3-7); (b) copies of papers relating to the petition (1619) of Thomas Canon, Surveyor of Crown lands in South Wales, concerning the supplanting of the mountain thieves of Wales, and disposing habitations in convenient places (see Calendar of State Papers. Domestic 1619-1623, p. 55) (ff. 8-9); (c) copy of a list of the inhabitants of Anglesey who were amerced for being in arms and rebellion with Owen Glyndyfrdwy, 1406, with a table of the fines, copies of the jury panels, and a list of outlaws (a portion, the lists for the commote of Llivon from a fragment found among Edward Lhuyd's papers, was published in Archaeologia Cambrensis, 3rd ser., 5 (1859), pp. 177-180; Browne Willis, in A Survey of the Cathedral Church of Bangor...
