The series comprises papers relating to administrative inspections of various local authorities carried out by the Local Government Commission for Wales as part of it's evidence gathering exercise. It comprises detailed notes on the services provided by various authorities, including assessments of the efficiency and effectiveness of those services and general council administration along with specific questions which the commissioners wanted to raise with members and officers of those authorities.

The Future of Local Government in Wales

The file consists of correspondence and papers, 1986-1989, relating to discussion and consideration of the consultative policy document The Future of Local Government in Wales. Much of the material concerns the reaction of local branches of the Labour Party and to the arrangement of conferences and meetings to discuss the document.
