[Mountain peaks]

Jagged mountain peaks flecked with snow. The lower slopes have a thick cover of vegetation. Probably taken by KW when staying with Don Diego Neill in the Los Alerces National Park. See pages 178-182 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991).

[Two mountain peaks]

Two mountain peaks about to be engulfed by low cloud. Probably taken by KW when staying with Don Diego Neill in the Los Alerces National Park. See pages 178-182 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991)

[Snow-covered mountains]

A chain of mountain peaks photographed from a distance. In the foreground is a shrub, possibly a Chilean fire tree. Probably taken by KW when staying with Don Diego Neill in the Los Alerces National Park. See pages 178-182 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991)

[Craggy Mountain Peaks, Tierra del Fuego]

A mountain wreathed in clouds with four distinct peaks giving the summit a serrated appearance. On pages 190-191 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) KW recalls sketching on the shore of Lake Fagnano, the most southerly lake in the world. This photograph probably dates from that expedition.

[Mountain peaks, Tierra del Fuego]

On pages 190-191 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) KW recalls sketching on the shore of Lake Fagnano, the most southerly lake in the world. This photograph probably dates from that expedition. Slide 4690/242 is similar.

[Jagged mountain peak, Los Alerces]

A jagged peak on the left of the frame with two other peaks to the centre and right. KW is believed to have visited this area on December 23rd 1968 - see p 179-180 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991). See also slides 4690/26 & 28.

[Mountain peaks & nivation hollow]

Three mountain peaks clustered in a semi circle around a nivation hollow. KW is believed to have visited this area on December 23rd 1968 - see p 179-180 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991). See also slides 4690/26-27.

[Mountains, Tierra del Fuego]

Forest in the foreground gives way to mountains in the distance.

On pages 190-191 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) KW recalls sketching on the shore of Lake Fagnano, the most southerly lake in the world. This photograph was probably taken on that expedition. Slide 4690/243 is similar.

[Cwm Hyfryd]

A small boy, possibly Iolo Green, in the middle distance walks away from the camera. In front of him is a vista of scrub and grazing land leading to the mountains of Gorsedd y Cwmwl. This and 4689/227-8 may be from the location mentioned on p170 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer 1991) "On we galloped to the foothills of the Cordillera to a corral where stallions fought over the mares. Iolo told me to draw them but gave me no time, for he was away again chasing Gigo over the wild land that was his home"
