Will of John Collyng de Bruggenorth. Testator wished to be buried in the porch (porticus) of the church of St Leonard of Bruggenorth near his wife and his funeral arrangements to be made according to the wishes of his executors; he bequeathed to Annora his wife for life a tenement in le Mulnestret in Bruggenorth between the tenements formerly of John Mareschall and Henry le Webbe and extending from the highway to Severn and after the death of the said Annora the said tenement to go to Matilda an Isabell his daughters and their heirs; in the event of no heirs he bequeathed the said tenement to the wardens of the said churches of St. Mary Magdalen and Sir Leonard of Bruggenorth and the wardens of Severn bridge to be sold for the upkeep of the fabric of the said churches and bridge; all his other lands in the liberty of the will of Bruggenorth to his executors and also two and a half incense-boats and all his goods and chattels to be sold to pa his debts, the executors being Nicholas Collyng and John Besselowe, chaplain. He also bequeathed to the said Annora for life (and after her life to the said Matilda and Sibil) a grange in the street called Mulneway between the tenements of John Leynthale and Robert Fonecare, a croft in the said street and lying by the side of the said street and Baconescroft, one acre of meadow in the said street between the land of the prior of St. John and the tenement formerly of Robert Selymon and extending from the ditch to Severn, a tenement held by the said Robert between the aforesaid meadow and testator's tenement and extending from the highway to Severn, and a butt of land in Seuarnefeld between the land of Nicholas Palmer and extending from the land of the aforesaid prior. Testator ordained that she should be buried in the church of St. Leonard near to her husband and that 8 candles and 4 torches should be lit around her body on the day of her funeral. She bequeathed 10s. to the church of St. Leonard; 6s. 8d. to the fabric of the church of St. Mary Magdalen; 6s. 8d. to the fabric of the bridge; a bed, a green coverlet with green arms, a red coverlet, and 5 pairs of linen sheets to her son John; her best gown with her best hood, her best tunic, 2 rosaries and 2 zones de argent' to her daughter Helena, and the residue to her executors, her sons William and Thomas.
