Wil Brydydd y Coed

The file includes the manuscript of Thomas Jones's edition of Wil Brydydd y Coed, by David Owen (Brutus). This satire on nonconformity and lay preachers was published in the Anglican magazine Yr Haul, between 1863 and 1865. Thomas Jones's edition was published by the University of Wales Press, in 1949. Also included are photocopies of Bangor MS 988B, being letters from 'Brutus' to 'Scorpion' (Thomas Roberts).

The series comprises letters sent to Thomas Jones from a wide circle of correspondents. Many of the letters relate to his publications, or request his advice on literary and historical matters.

The file comprises notes on the history, grammar and orthography of the Welsh language, including notecards which give examples of words and phrases, and which list manuscripts in which they appear; a typescript of the additional appendix to the Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru, 1967, and a list of business and office terms with their Welsh equivalents.

The file comprises a report produced by the Mid-Wales Industrial Development Association entitled 'A Review of Population Changes in Mid-Wales, 1901-1951', 1959, together with an annotated typescript entitled 'Liberal Education in the Age of Science and Technology', 1962, produced by Thomas Jones for the Central Advisory Council for Wales.
