Interestingly the original title written on this negative reads "27. Vyrnwy Hotel and Lake pub. by E.C. Burns" implying this is one in a series of postcards. In addition an adhesive label on the negative reads "Welshpool 2868"

In the foreground are two large marquees whilst the ceremony is taking place in the distance under a banner that reads "Success to the Tanat Valley Light Railway." Note that JPJ003 is a similar view of the same event. The Montgomery County Times and Shropshire and Mid-Wales Advertiser dated 16th September 1899 gives an account of the proceedings
