Speeches,

The series comprises manuscript and typescript speech notes, 1968-[1991], prepared by Nicholas Edwards himself or by his civil servants at the Welsh Office, together with press releases issued by the Conservative Central Office or the Conservative Party Wales giving detailed summaries of the contents of his speeches or extracts from the speeches. There are also some press cuttings describing speeches delivered by Mr Edwards and other related papers.

Retirement and peerage,

The file contains letters and messages to Nicholas Edwards on his retirement as the Conservative MP for Pembrokeshire and congratulating him on the award of a peerage in the 1987 Dissolution Honours List. The correspondents include Keith Best MP, Donald Box, Lynda Chalker MP, Geraint Talfan Davies, Michael Howard, T. W. Jones, Lord Maelor, Migel Lawson, and Margaret Thatcher (2).

The series consists of press cuttings, 1968-1987, mainly from the Western Mail or from local Pembrokeshire newspapers, with a few taken from national newspapers. Most of the cuttings concern the political life of Pembrokeshire, most especially Nicholas Edwards's political career and events which he attended within the county. A few of the cuttings relate to national political events.
