'Y llyfr grôt' gan T. H. Evans (Tomos ab Titus),

A book written by T. H. Evans, which describes his experiences when he was a mining engineer in the Yukon district, Alaska. He describes a great deal of the natural life there, a certain amount of the life and habits of the miners and pioneers, and a certain amount of the history of the 'Gold Rush'. Dated 'California, 1914'. Written in Welsh, full of English idioms. Vol. 1, 112 ff; vol. 2, 83 ff.

Various letters to J. T. Evans,

Correspondence dated 1914-1915, with several stray letters dated 1910 and 1921, largely addressed to J. T. Evans. The majority are personal and family letters, some concerning the war (1914-1918) and its problems; others (particularly those from H. B. Walters, British Museum) concern J. T. Evans's interests in church antiquities. A set of notes from H. B. Walters relating to the church plate of the North Riding of Yorkshire. Two rubbings of bell inscriptions, one of a bell at Prendergast, co. Pemb., and the other from St Davids Cathedral. Correspondents include: Helen Cripps (Countess Bismark), Cirencester, T. H. Evans, the Rev. George Lewis (Gloucester), Sir John Rhys (Oxford), and H. B. Walters (British Museum). Press cuttings, dated 1910, relating to a mediaeval chalice and paten found near Dolgellau, co. Mer. in 1890, which were bequeathed to the king, who in turn presented them to the National Museum of Wales. Amongst the cuttings is a reprint of an article on these very pieces of plate by W. Transcripts made and annotated by J. T. Evans of Mr Edward Law of Tenby's copy of two pocket note-books belonging to the Rev. John Griffiths, incumbent of Llan-y-cefn and curate of Llandysilio, Pembrokeshire. The entries cover the period 1759-1797, and subjects include: (p. l) Lists of borrowers of books from J. Griffiths's own collection; (p. 7) Lists of 'toasts, sentiments and Hob-Nobs, etc.'; (p. 13) Registers of Christenings, Weddings and Burials performed by J. Griffiths; (p. 17) Accounts paid by J. Included is a transcript of a fragment of two leaves, page 1 apparently beginning with a burial, 1593, page 2 headed 1595 also includes burials, page 3 baptisms 1621-1622, continued on page 4 until 1624. Made by J. T. Evans 1902-11. Included is a newspaper cutting dated 2 Dec. 1916 with notes by J. T. Evans on the genealogy of the Walter/Walters family of Pembrokeshire. Evans (Privately printed, Ltd Edtn, 50 copies, issued to subscribers only. Stow-on-the-Wold: J. H. Alden, 1918). (ii) Antiquarian notes relating to Fishguard compiled in 1921 by T. H. Evans, in Welsh. Some of these are taken from a book belonging to D. Symmonds (see MS 65), and describe some of Fishguard's buildings and places of interest, explaining some of the names. (iii) Several other notes on Fishguard by J. T. Evans and T. H. Evans, including a list of 'Master Mariners 1834-1914' of Fishguard, with a list of their ships and voyages. 103 Ff.
