Papers, [19 cent, first ½]-1938, from the library of T[homas] Eurwedd Williams. They comprise mainly essays and notes relating to Welsh and other languages, literatures and mythologies, translations from and notes on Greek and Latin literature, material relating to Dafen, Llanelli, and surrounding districts, and general notes on Welsh public figures, literature, eisteddfodau, political issues, etc.; together with diaries, 1932-1935, of T. Eurwedd Williams, and a commonplace book of the Rev. David Bowen, first minister of Seion Baptist church, Llanelli.

The volume was submitted for competition at the National Eisteddfod held at Caernarvon, 1935.

Cyfochraeth chwedlau y Mabinogion,

A file of loose sheets containing summaries, with notes, of the Four Branches of the Mabinogi; and an essay on the Greek and other affinities of the tales, written in 1929 and entitled 'Ystyriaethau Ar y Mabinogion Cymraeg. Cais I'w Dehongli Drwy Gyferbyniaeth Gyfochrol Y Chwedlonau Groegaidd a Rhai Gwledydd Eraill'.

A file of loose sheets containing notes ('nodiadau cofion') on the history of Llanelly; and abstracts, 1864-1893, from a register of Maescanner Baptist Church recording payments to the minister, the Rev. Phillip Phillips, and to visiting preachers and lecturers.

A file of loose sheets containing reminiscences, biographies, and other notes relating to the history of Dafen, near Llanelly, and compiled during the period 1927-1933.

Hen gymeriadau, &c.,

A volume entitled 'Hen Gymeriadau', written circa 1890 and containing reminiscences of residents of Dafen and especially of early members of Maescanner Baptist Church. There are also reminiscences of John Rhys Morgan, 'Lleurwg', minister of Zion Baptist Church, Llanelly. The volume contains two pages of notes on Welsh grammar, and may have been originally intended for that purpose.

Cofiant 'Sam y gof',

A biographical essay ('Traethawd Bywgraffyddol') on Samuel Williams, 'Sam y Gof', of Felinfoel, which was awarded the first prize by the adjudicator, the Rev. J. R. Morgan, 'Lleurwg', at an eisteddfod held at Adulam Baptist Chapel, Felin-foel, in 1890. Inset is a sheet of biographical notes, in English, in a different hand.

Llanelly eisteddfod,

A notebook containing minutes of the committee of the Llanelly Bank Holiday Eisteddfod, of which T. Eurwedd Williams and J. Rees Hopkins were joint secretaries, from 23 April to 30 July 1901. The remainder of the volume, beginning from the end, was used during the period 1915-1920 to record orders by T. Eurwedd Williams, on behalf of customers, for books and periodicals.

Maescanner account book,

'Llyfr Cofnodion [sic] Eglwys Maescanner', being the first account book of Maescanner Baptist Church, Dafen, recording receipts and disbursements from 7 June 1864 to 1894.
According to a note on the first page by Edward Williams, secretary, the Church was incorporated on 13 May 1864 by J. R. Morgan (Lleurwg) and William Hughes, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Glanmôr, Llanelli.

A volume entitled 'Cyfrol II. Nodion Cyffredinol', covering the period 2 January 1924-27 April 1935. The majority of the entries consist of observations on domestic and international politics. There are also references to some of the literary awards made at the National Eisteddfod held at Pontypool in 1924. Inset are miscellaneous press cuttings.

A volume entitled 'Cyfrol V. Nodion Cyffredinol', covering the period January-27 September 1928. The entries relate to domestic and international politics, Welsh orthography, the death of Thomas Hardy and of Herbert Henry Asquith, 1st Earl of Oxford and Asquith, emigration to Australia, the National Eisteddfod held at Treorchy, reminiscences of persons who played a prominent part in the public life of Llanelly, etc.

A volume entitled 'Cyfrol VI. Nodion Cyffredinol', covering the period 2 October 1928-3 January 1930. The entries relate to domestic and international politics, Welsh orthography, the decline of the Welsh language, the bilingual problem in Wales, the forthcoming National Eisteddfod at Llanelly, the death of Sir John Morris-Jones and of J. B. Rees (Morleisfab), Llangennech, the general election, cancer research, etc. Inset are a few miscellaneous press cuttings.
