Notebooks and loose papers containing drafts and notes by Taliesin Williams relating to various books and essays, especially to his unpublished works on Merthyr Tydfil (T5/1-5), Llandaff (T5/6-13) and Sion Cent (T5/14-16).
Also included are papers relating to Coelben y Beirdd, Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain and possibly other publications (T5/17-18, see also T5/4) and fragments relating to his essay on the Neath Valley (T5/19).

Eisteddfod y Fottas

Poetical compositions, 1824-1827, submitted for competition at 'Eisteddfod y Fottas' (the Boot Eisteddfod), held by Cymdeithas Cadair Merthyr Tydfil at the Boot Inn (Arwydd y Fottas), Merthyr Tydfil, together with some adjudications (T9/1, 2 folders). Also included are copies, 1823-1827, of posters advertising the eisteddfodau (T9/2).
Taliesin Williams was secretary to Cymdeithas Cadair Merthyr Tydfil. Some of the compositions were printed in Awenyddion Morganwg; neu, Farddoniaeth Cadair Merthyr Tudful (Merthyr Tydfil, [1826]).

Family papers; catalogues; wrappers

Papers, [1827]-[?20 cent., first ¼], relating mainly to Taliesin Williams's relatives and descendants. These include a draft of Taliesin's will, dated 1842 (T13/1); various catalogues of the manuscripts and books of Iolo Morganwg and Taliesin ab Iolo, [1827]-1848 (T13/2); locks of hair belonging to Taliesin and family members, [1830s] (T13/3); miscellaneous papers, 1847-[c. 1908], mostly of Taliesin's son Edward Williams (1826-1886), the iron-master (T13/4); two notebooks containing English poetry, the one in the hand of Edward Williams, 1845-1848 (T13/5), the other in an unidentified hand, [19 cent., second ¼] (T13/6); three volumes of autograph English poetry, 1838-1861, by Edward's uncle, James Petherick of Cardiff and Aberdare (T13/7); and a bundle of old paper wrappers, [?20 cent., first ¼], containing notes in the hand of Edward's son Aneurin Williams, retained as evidence of previous attempts at sorting the papers (T13/8).

Iolo MSS (1848)

Drafts and notes in the hand of Taliesin Williams for the volume Iolo Manuscripts, A Selection of Ancient Welsh Manuscripts, in prose and verse, from the collection made by the late Edward Williams, Iolo Morganwg,… with English translations and notes by his son, the late Taliesin Williams (Ab Iolo) of Merthyr Tydfil (Liverpool: Welsh MSS Society, 1848).
Included are manuscript drafts of the Welsh texts on pp. 3-328 passim (T4/1), drafts of the English translations on pp. 341-496 passim (T4/2), drafts for the footnotes on pp. 332-489 passim (T4/3), a draft of pp. 331-507 passim combining text and footnotes (T4/4), and notebooks containing notes and memoranda relating to the volume (T4/5-11). Also included is a bundle of draft texts, relating mostly to Welsh saints in a format similar to T4/1 but which were either omitted from the volume or intended for another book on Bonedd y Saint (T4/12).

Ninety-six letters, [?1868]-1899, from Aneurin Williams to his Mother [Mary Elizabeth Williams], (77) [?1868]-1899, Father [Edward Williams], (16) 1884-1885, and brothers Penry, (1) 8 January 1884, and Illtyd, (2) 15-20 September 1888. The letters are sent mostly from the United States, continental Europe and Egypt.

Executorship papers

Papers, 1878-1891, of Aneurin Williams as executor of the wills of Mary Petherick (d. 28 November 1887) and her sister Elizabeth Bowman (d. 14 January 1891), including wills, valuations, inventories and related papers, correspondence with solicitors and some legatees, bills and receipts, etc.
Also included is a copy of the will of Aneurin's father Edward Williams, 1884, and copies of prose pieces by Mary Petherick, 1878.

Some four hundred and forty letters, 1879-1899, from Mary Elizabeth Williams (née Trick), Middlesbrough, to her second son Aneurin Williams.
Also included is a letter to her grandson Iolo [Aneurin Williams], 17 June 1899, and a letter to 'Mary', 8 December 1885.

Twenty letters, 1879-1896, from May [Mary Elizabeth] Hedley (née Williams), Yester House, Middlesbrough, to her brother Aneurin Williams. May was the eldest child of Edward and Mary Williams and was married to Dr John Hedley.

Miscellaneous papers of Aneurin Williams

Miscellaneous papers, 1878-1891, of Aneurin Williams, comprising: (i) some six draft letters to family and friends, 1878-1891, ephemera and personalia, and a copy of his pamphlet Home Rule: A Plea for Conciliation and a National Settlement (London, 1893); (ii) an analysis of the potential influence of the nine Parnellite MPs in the House of Commons following the 1892 General Election, 1892; and a draft political speech.
An explanatory letter, 6 July 1953, from the donor, Iolo A. Williams, to the National Library of Wales is also included. A draft letter, 14 January 1891, from Aneurin Williams to Elizabeth Bowman (see also F13) is dated the day of the recipient's death and remained unsent.

Jenny Belk letters

Some thirty-seven letters, 1882-1908, from Jenny [Jane] Belk, at Middlesbrough, Grasmere and elsewhere, to her brother Aneurin Williams. Jenny was the younger daughter of Edward and Mary Williams and married John Belk of Middlesbrough, solicitor, as his second wife.
