John Roberts, Glyn Neath, sermons

Thirty volumes of sermon (and a few lecture) notes in Welsh by [John Roberts, Baptist minister, Glynneath] (d. 1890). They were written and/or delivered, during the period 1874-1890, with the exception of the first volume which contains sermons written by him as vicar of Ystradgynlais, 1851, and preached during the period 1851-1873. John Gomer Lewis ('Gomer') sermons,

Six notebooks and unbound material containing sermons and sermon notes, 1863-1910 and undated, largely in Welsh, by John Gomer Lewis ('Gomer'), pastor successively at Maesteg, and Bellvue and Capel Gomer, Swansea, Baptist churches. Some of his earliest sermons are signed at Llwynbedw, Penboyr. Formerly D. Pryse Williams 282-284.

A few notebooks and a mass of unbound material containing unidentified 18th and 19th century sermons, sermon notes etc. in Welsh and English. Some of the sermons were preached in the following places and at the following times: St Ishmaels, 1770-1814, Llanfrynach, 1791, Mydrim, 1795, Cantref, 1797, Pembrey, 1798-1807, Llanelli, 1802-1810, Llangattock, 1803-1819, Cardigan, 1813, Manordeifi, 1818-1819, Capel Colman, 1818-1837, Carmarthen, 1819, Llangoedmore, 1831-1839, Llandygwydd, 1833, Llanllwchaiarn, 1837-1861, and Cenarth, 1839-1845, and Wellington, 1757-1765, Little Hereford, 1774-1776, Ashford Carbonel, 1774-1776, Wallington, 1824, Creaton, 1834-1837, Swinstead, 1837, etc. Some of these sermons were originally preserved with the sermons of Rhys Jones Lloyd, Troedyraur (NLW MS 15872), and the parcel was endorsed by D. Lewis Jones, Treherbert, diaries,

Seventeen diaries of Lewis Jones, Baptist minister, of Pen-y-cae (Ebbw Vale), Pwllheli, and Treherbert, for the years 1859-1864, 1866-1868, 1871-1872, 1874, 1876, 1878-1881. The vols used are 'Y drych blynyddol ... at wasanaeth yr enwad Bedyddiedig', 1859-1864, 1866-1867, 'The illustrated universal pocket diary & almanack', 1868, and 'Llawlyfr y Bedyddwyr Cymreig', 1871-1872, 1874, 1876, 1878-1881. David S. James sermons,

Two volumes of sermons, in Welsh, by David S. James, Baptist minister successively at Pontestyll; Ffynnonhenry, Cwmduad, and Rhydargaeau; Tabor, Dyfed; and Bevier and New Cambria, USA. The author was a native of Eglwyswrw, who married a sister of 'Myfyr Emlyn' and became the father of David James ('Defynnog'). The two vols have been bound, and partly indexed, by 'Defynnog'.
