Score for orchestral parts for a hitherto unidentified piece. The wrapper is a Boosey & Hawkes' Music Publishers Ltd. folio library bag and marked "Morning Session", "Freight" and "Prod 71[3]". Possibly supplied as a morning [recording] session. Set of parts transferred from Royal Northern College of Music where they were presumably performed. Ownership and authorship by William Mathias indicated on wrapper. Undated. In ink and pencil. Further information not available.

'Songs of William Blake', Op. 82

A photocopy with manuscript additions in pencil of what appears to be an earlier version of a full score of 'Songs of William Blake' by William Mathias, Op. 82. 'For Helen Watts on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Fishguard Music Festival'. Written in ink on f. 1 recto are '© WM & OUP 1979'. A note is included which states that "this appears to be a photocopy of the original MS with composer's additional pencil markings [...]".

'Songs of William Blake', Op. 82

A photocopy of what appears to be a more final version of a full score of 'Songs of William Blake' by William Mathias, Op. 82, for mezzo-contralto, celeste, harp, piano and string orchestra. Commissioned by the 1979 Fishguard Music Festival in association with the Welsh Arts Council. Written in ink on the front cover are '© O.U.P. 1979'.

Print ready advance copy of the full score by William Mathias for 'Songs of William Blake', Op. 82, for Mezzo-Contralto, Celeste, Harp, Piano and String Orchestra. Oxford University Press Music Dept. [stamp], 1979. 88 folio bound in green cover and taped spine, together with a typescript sheet 'Noted by the Composer' concerning the choice of poems. Also includes a letter dated 9 July from the composer to Malcolm Boyd, 'Here is an advance copy of the 'Blake Songs' as arranged.'

A photocopy with manuscript additions in pencil and red ink of a piano-vocal score of 'Te Deum' by William Mathias, Op. 85. 'To June Gordon, Marchioness of Aberdeen'. Commissioned for the centenary of the Chapel of Haddo House, Aberdeen, 1981. Signature of Alfreda Hodgson in red ink on page 1.

The five items deposited in 1995 was incorporated to the present structure and given E2d, B14c, K11b, K11c, and J1d as reference numbers.

Two items deposited in 1998 was incorporated to the present structure and given I1b and K18b as reference numbers.

Two items deposited in 2005 was incorporated to the present structure and given I27a and I28a as reference numbers.

An additional box of William Mathias's music manuscripts were received as a donation in August 2006. These manuscripts have been introduced at the end of the present structure as a Sub-fonds, entitled 2006 Donation, in February 2016.

William Mathias Recordings including reel to reel tapes, video tapes and vinyl records donated in July 2015 has been transferred to The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales.
