It was named after the owner of the factory, Brewer-Spinks.

It appears that the author has noted his own medical discoveries on ff. 66 verso-7.

The donor J. Cyril Hughes and Dr Meredydd Evans were joint secretaries. The papers include minutes of meetings, correspondence and other papers relating to the working party.
